Fall in Charlottesville

Fall is upon us and it’s my most favorite time of year!!  It’s cooling down, the air is crisp, and the days are shorter (Ok, I’m from New England and love it when it gets dark early!).  It’s a great time to grab a sandwich and take a picnic to the park, UVA grounds, a vineyard or on a hike.

Who doesn’t love a good bagel?  Bodo’s Bagels is a C’ville institution.  There are three locations conveniently located around town.  On the weekends the line is usually out the door and around the corner, but don’t let it deter you because it’s worth the wait.  The line moves quickly, and the price is right ($3.45 for a bagel and cream cheese, $4.25 for a turkey sandwich!).  The bacon, egg and cheese for breakfast is a customer favorite and my go-to for lunch is the chicken salad as everything is always so fresh.  The bagels are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and are baked every day all day. Not sure how they make the cream cheese, but just wow!   Want a salad?  I’ve been ordering Caesar Salad for years.  I always walk away 100% satisfied!

If you have a sweet tooth, Petit Marie Bette is the place for you.  Head over after a gander around the farmer’s market on a Saturday morning and you’ll find an array of delicious pastries.  The chocolate and almond croissants, sticky buns and palmier are all delicious.  But I go for their bread (my guilty pleasure).  Any sandwich on a baguette or sourdough is out of this world.  It’s such a cute little place to grab a coffee and a bite and just watch C’ville go by!

So many fun things to do in and around C’ville this time of year.   Plenty of festivals, outdoor concerts, UVA football games and hunt races to name a few.  Enjoy!

Cheers,

Ann
