MOUNT IDA TASTING ROOM & TAPHOUSE

MOUNT IDA TASTING ROOM & TAPHOUSE

The temps are finally rising and beginning to feel a little bit like spring!  So, my husband and I ventured out to one of my favorite vineyards, Mount Ida, for Sunday brunch.  We previewed the new menu and went hungry.

Inside was packed with guests, so we opted to sit in the heated bar area overlooking the views.  For the first time, I could see Wintergreen Ski Resort along the horizon as we’ve had a lot of snow for our area this season.  My pictures don’t do the mountain view justice.  Not even close!

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, so I ordered the eggs and bacon.  The eggs had just the right amount of herbs and the bacon was crispy, just the way I like it!  My husband indulged in their chicken and waffles and a “tapas” plate large enough for 3 people of their homemade brioche French toast.  I did have to try both, and they were delicious, especially the maple syrup.  Yummy!  We paired our meal with a light and crisp glass of Rose.  Perfect.

It was a glorious day, so afterwards we headed outside to sit at one of their many seating areas to soak up some sun.  I couldn’t help but point out the two little girls running and bouncing and rolling all over the massive lawn while their parents joyfully sipped their wine and enjoyed the peace of the afternoon.  A couple of dogs were having the time of their lives, too.  So much space inside and out.

We thought out loud that it must be the perfect spot to watch the sun set over the Blue Ridge and made a note to do so soon!

Cheers,

Ann
