Escargot Adventures

During my time in Paris, I enjoyed escargot three times, and each experience was a treat! However, I must say that the way we serve escargot at Clifton is exceptional. Here, it's paired with bone marrow, adding an extra layer of richness and flavor that I didn’t find in Paris. Truly a standout!

Croque Madam Comparisons

Croque Madam was a staple on nearly every menu in France. Although I could only have a bite or two (being dairy-free has its challenges), I noticed that none of them quite matched the quality of our version here. The French versions often had too much bread, overshadowing the other ingredients. Clifton’s strikes the perfect balance.

Michelin Star Experience

One of the highlights of my trip was a night in Burgundy where we had a private Michelin star chef prepare pappardelle pasta and beef bourguignon for us. The pasta was impeccable, but I found the bourguignon to be good yet a bit dry. In contrast, our beef bourguignon at Clifton is wonderfully rich and melts in your mouth—absolutely to-die-for!

Steak Frites and More

I didn’t encounter a single disappointing steak frites in France, which says a lot about their culinary standards. But I must add that our steak au poivre with onion rings at Clifton is right up there with the best of them!

A Tempting Dessert

While I don’t often indulge in desserts, today I find myself eyeing the Strawberry Shortcake on our menu here at Clifton. It's a delightful combination of Angel Food Cake, Rhubarb Compote, Strawberry Semi Freddo, and Whipped Cream. Yummy!

Homemade Pastries and Cookies

Let's not forget about Clifton's homemade pastries crafted by our talented pastry chef. Each bite is a little piece of heaven! And don’t miss out on our chocolate chip cookies handed out at checkout—it's the sweetest way to end your visit.

Whether in Paris or Charlottesville, the farmer’s markets are filled with fresh fruits and vegetables all summer long. It's the perfect time to take advantage of the season's best and enjoy the vibrant flavors of fresh produce.
